Document required for patent registation in Thailand

In registration of an invention patent, the following documents and information are required:

1. A notarized Power of Attorney as per our format transmitted herewith;
2. Name, address and nationality of the applicant;
3. Name, address and nationality of the inventor;
4. Date and place of first filing as well as the application number;
5. Illustration of the invention showing its appearance (may consist of photographs or drawing on A-4 size paper);
6. Description of the invention and claim(s);
7. An assignment, if the applicant is not the inventor, bearing the authorized signatures of both the assignor and the assignee and dated earlier than the Power of Attorney in No. 1 above.

If the invention has been first applied in overseas and the company wishes to claim priority of the first filed application, the patent application must be filed with the Thailand Intellectual Property Department within 12 months of the date of the first filed application.

In registration of design patent, the following documents and information are required:

1. A notarized Power of Attorney (if the applicant is a company registered in overseas);
2. Name, address and nationality of the applicant;
3. Name address and nationality of the designer;
4. Date and place of first filing as well as the application number;
5. Illustration of the product design showing its appearance (may consist of photographs or drawings on A-4 size paper but they must be in black and white unless the design consists of colour composites);
6. Description of the product design and claim (s); and
7. An assignment, if the applicant is not the designer, bearing the authorized signatures of both the assignor and the assignee and dated earlier than the Power of Attorney in No. 1 above.

If the product design has been first applied in overseas and the company wishes to claim priority of the first filed application, the patent application must be filed with the Thailand Intellectual Property Department within six months of the date of the first filed application.
